So I bribed my son. (only for $1) "Would you please help Mommy with a story?" How could he turn down money for ice cream? I read some of my PiBoIdMo ideas, and one made him laugh. Aha! That's the one.
So just like from our homeschool writing lessons, I asked him for a character. We brainstormed names. Came up with a problem, 3 ways the character would try to solve the problem and fail, and a solution, plus a twist ending. I won't say too much about our story except it involves taekwondo, my son's specialty.
So my point of this post is--if you're stuck on your WIP or blank out with ideas, grab your kid, a grand kid, the neighbor's kid. You get the idea. Give them a treat and have fun collaborating together. You'll see what exactly is funny to them and how they think.
With kids out for summer, it's the perfect opportunity. Try it!
